30 May 2008: Rebgong (Ch: Tongren) County, Malho “TAP”, Amdo (incorporated into Chinese Province of Sichuan) – Alak Khaso Rinpoche of Rongpo monastery in critical health condition
Alak Khaso Rinpoche from Rongpo monastery, Rebgong County, is in critical condition these days. He has been treating at a hospital in Siling (Ch: Xining) Municipality. Rinpoche was severely beaten when the People’s Armed Police (PSB) personnel cracked down the peaceful protest staged by the lay and monks on 17 April.
Though his broken leg has recovered well, he has been suffering from severe cough due to sustaining injury at his lungs. Moreover, his vision and hearing abilities have weakened much.
Seven monks from Rongpo monastery still remain under arrest. The monks at Rongpo monastery continue to disregard the “patriotic re-education” being conducted by the Chinese official “work-team”. Due to this, there is a possibility of staging protest again as reported by source.

Karze (Ch: Ganzi) County, Karze “TAP”, Kham (incorporated into Chinese Province of Sichuan) – Three nuns arrested for staging a peaceful protest
Sangye Lhamo, Tsewang Khado and Yeshi Lhadon, all nuns from Dragkar nunnery, in Karze County, staged a peaceful protest at County government office at about 9:00 A.M. on 28 May.
During the protest, they demanded such as “His Holiness the Dalai Lama must be welcomed to Tibet”, and also wished “long live His Holiness the Dalai Lama”. All of them were arrested thereafter.

Lhasa – Three monks from Ramoche temple arrested for allegedly sharing information with outsiders
Bhuchung, Damdul and another one (who was born in Meldro), all three monks from Ramoche temple, were again arrested by the concerned local Chinese officials on 26 May for keeping in contact with outsiders through phone calls. They are suspected for sharing information with the outside world.
They were earlier arrested together with many Ramoche monks on 7 April. However, most of them, except around five monks, were released after 17 days of detention.
Attempted was made to arrest them twice thereafter during which all the monks stood in their support. Therefore, the concerned officials could not arrest them fearing the outcome of strong protest.
This time, they were arrested in a very quick manner that other monks could not do anything to support them.

Ngaba (Ch: Aba) County, Ngaba “TAP”, Amdo (incorporated into Chinese Province of Sichuan) – Arrestees are being severely tortured
Nechung, a woman from Charu area in Ngaba County, succumbed to injuries on 14 April soon after her release as reported earlier. After she died, her husband’s elder son Takho and younger son Choepe were arrested by the concerned Chinese officials.
They were severely beaten that resulted in broken of Takho’s both legs. Currently, he is undergoing treatment at Chengdu City Hospital. His younger brother seems to be in Ngaba County prison. No further details available.
Ngaba (Ch: Aba) County, Ngaba “TAP”, Amdo (incorporated into Chinese Province of Sichuan) – No monks left at Se monastery due to tight restriction
Due to the participation by monks of Se monastery, situated in Ngaba County, in 16 March protest staged by the local people and monks in Ngaba County, the concerned local Chinese authorities put them in a house-arrest like situation wherein they are not allowed to visit outside and even to have gatherings.
Therefore, the monks, not being able to withstand these severe restrictions, left the monastery. Currently, the monastery has turned into an empty as no monks are left out.
Dzoge (Ch: Ruo’ergai) County, Ngaba “TAP”, Amdo (incorporated into Chinese Province of Sichuan) – Criticism storms Tak-stang Lhamo Kirti monastery in local media
The monks of Tak-stang Lhamo Kirti monastery, Dzoge County, are being harshly criticised through the local official newspaper and others for leading a peaceful demonstration at Ngaba in March.
About 190 of its monks, who are considered the main opponent of “patriotic re-education”, are barred from participating in the prayer sessions. The remaining monks asked for the equal treatment of all the monks. They even told that they are together through happiness and sorrow. Opposing the order from “work-team”, the monks halted conducting their prayer sessions as a mark of protest.
Lunggu (Ch: Wenchuan) County, Ngaba “TAP”, Amdo (incorporated into Chinese Province of Sichuan) – Whereabouts of monks arrested from various monasteries are unknown
Knowing the complete fall down of an old prison under Lunggu County, the monks of Kirti monastery enquired at the concerned local office on whereabouts of the monks who were arrested earlier from various monasteries. They were replied that those are being held in Sungchu (Ch: Songpan) County prison.
However, when the members of family of some of those arrested monks visited the concerned Sungchu County office, its officials too denied their holding of those monk arrestees.
The whereabouts and well-being of all those monks arrested from various monasteries in Ngaba “TAP” turned unknown.
Ngaba (Ch: Aba) County, Ngaba “TAP”, Amdo (incorporated into Chinese Province of Sichuan) – A monk protestor sentenced to one year imprisonment
On the reason of participating in a demonstration carried out at Ngaba County in March, Jamyang Choephel, a monk-student from Kirti monastery, situated in Ngaba County, and born in Rebgong (Ch: Tongren) County, Malho “TAP”, was arrested and then sentenced to one year imprisonment in May.
