TIBET INFORMATION OFFICE

The Tibet Information Office in Canberra is an official agency of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). It was established in 1993 after His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s historic meeting with the Prime Minister Paul Keating in May 1992. Its main function is to create a better understanding of the situation in Tibet and draw the attention of world public opinion to the plight of the people of Tibet.

The Tibet Information Office represents Tibetan Affairs in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. It supervises overall arrangements for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visits to these countries and is also helps advance and aid Tibetan culture and Tibetans living in these regions.
