Dharamshala: Mr Tatsuo Ishikawa, President of Rainbow Children, Japan along Vice President Miss Yuko Mimura and other seven-member are on a short visit to Dharamshala to meet with the officials of the Department of Education, and also to meet with students to whom they provide the scholarship for further studies.
The delegation met with Education Kalon Mr Ngodup Tsering and other officials on 13 March to discuss the scholarship program. In the meeting, the Rainbow Children organisation has raised the funding of scholarship from 65 Students to 100 Students from 2017 onwards. They have also emphasised the importance of students’ commitment to become a leader of Tibet after completing their studies. Later, a special meeting was convened with Men-Tsee-Khang officials to explore any avenue in forging a partnership on herbal products.
The Japanese delegation also got a photo-op with His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the sideline of teachings on 14 March. They have also attended as an observer to the live session of the Tibetan Parliament in exile.
On the same day, they visited the College for Higher Tibetan Studies at Sarah and Norbulingka to interact with the students they are providing a scholarship. They visited Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School in Gangkyi on 15 March.
Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay had taken time off his busy schedule from the ongoing Parliament session, to meet with the Japanese delegation. They had a cordial discussion on Japanese culture, and support for the education of Tibetan students.
They will also have a meeting with 11 Tibetan Students in Delhi, and a meeting with Lal Quila Tibetan Market executive members.
