Freedom in Tibet hinges on Freedom in China: Chinese Intellectual Delegation at CTA

Dharamshala: A five-member Chinese delegation representing the Sino Tibet Study Group, Federation for Democratic China and Citizen Power Initiatives for China addressed the officials of Central Tibetan Administration here at T-building Tuesday morning.

In their remarks, the delegation led by Chin Qin, Xu Wei, Qi Jiazhen, Sheng Xue and Wang Xueli echoed the message of hope and support with the Tibetan freedom movement.

Chin Qin, President of the Federation for a Democratic China (FDC) based in Australia said: “Without a Free China, how can we get Free Tibet. A Free China means the Beijing regime remains no more and at that time, a Free Tibet can be realised.”

“As more and more unpredictability looms over China, a Free Tibet could be realised,” Chin remarked. Chin has received multiple audiences and long-hour meetings with His Holiness the Dalai Lama; this is his 7th visit to the seat of Central Tibetan Administration. 

The FDC, headed by Chin, is a political group that advocates the democratization of China through the opposition of the Communist Party of China and the support of human rights. It was founded on September 22, 1989, in Paris, France, following the 1989 Tiananmen Square Protests.

Ms Qi Jia Zhen, founder of the Qi Cultural Foundation of Australia offered to continue supporting the education of Tibetan youth through the Department of Education, CTA. Ms Qi also supports independent films on the subject of human rights. The Qi’s Cultural Foundation of Australia awarded its Special Prize of “Make a Better China Award” to Tibetan filmmaker and political prisoner Dhondup Wangchen, in recognition of his documentary “Leaving Fear Behind”.

Sheng Xue, Federation for a Democratic China (FDC) from Canada recalled her close association with the Tibetan community in Canada since 10 March 1993 and through the hundreds of Tibetan political events which she actively participated and supported.

In order to challenge the flawed policies of the Chinese government, Sheng said Tibetans must first understand China’s Communist Party inside and out.

“The 1.42 billion Chinese people is the most powerful weapon of the Chinese Communist Party because the 1.42 billion people don’t have freedom, human rights and have no ability for their own will. They are controlled and used by the Chinese regime.”

“Hence, we have the responsibility to liberate every single person and every single soul and to let everyone be a free person. When I am fighting for freedom, democracy, rule of law for China, I will fight for free Tibet at the same time,” she said.

Another speaker, Xu Wei, Sino Tibet Support Group began his remarks with prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. A former political prisoner, Xu Wei shared his experiences of meeting Tibetans during his term in prison. He’s since committed to supporting freedom in Tibet and China.
