Canberra: The Ambassador of the European Union to Australia, Honourable Gabriele Visentin, met with Representative Karma Singey of the Canberra-based Office of Tibet (Tibet Information Office) on 11 January 2024 at his office.
During the meeting, which lasted over an hour, Representative Karma Singey briefed Ambassador Gabriele Visentin on wide-ranging issues, including the egregious human rights violations taking place in Tibet, the Chinese government’s interference in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of reincarnation, and the Central Tibetan Administration’s policy of Middle Way Approach proposed by His Holiness the Dalai lama for resolving the Sino-Tibet Conflict.
The representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Australia, Zealand and South East Asia also expressed his appreciation for the recent European Parliament’s resolution condemning China’s forced assimilation of nearly 1 million Tibetan children in state-run boarding schools in Tibet.
Ambassador Gabriele Visentin assured his support and expressed his solidarity with the Tibetan people.
Representative Karma Singey was accompanied by Dawa Sangmo, the Chinese Liaison Officer of the Tibet Information Office, during the meeting.
