Sydney, Australia: The Office of Tibet (OoT) in Canberra convened President and Secretary of Australian Tibetan Community Association, Presidents and executive members of Australia-based regional Tibetan Associations, a representative from the Australia Tibet Council’s board of directors, and the Australia V-TAG Coordinator at the Sydney Rigney Kystel Khang Weekend School to deliberate on programmes pertaining to the arrangements for the forthcoming 90th Birthday anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on 3 and 4 August 2024.
During the first day of the meeting, Representative Karma Singe of the OoT, Canberra, introduced the meeting’s objective, stating it aims to deliberate and establish preliminary plans and arrangements for the commemoration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday anniversary in 2025. The overarching theme for the celebration is “Year of Compassion,” aligning with the directives from the Kashag.
Following the address by the Representative, the participants engaged in discussions on various agendas, including promoting His Holiness’ four noble commitments, bringing to pass a resolution or issuing an official statement in the Australian parliament recognising and acknowledging His Holiness’ lifelong dedication to advancing global harmony and benefitting welfare of whole sentient beings, producing videos, photo exhibitions, and a talk series associated with His Holiness’ life accomplishments, and organising a grand celebration to commemorate His Holiness’s 90th birthday in the coming year across Australia.
The meeting culminated with establishment of a coordinating committee for the much anticipated event that comprises President and director of the Australia Tibetan Community Association, a representative of the regional Australia Tibet Associations, and the Coordinator of the Australia V-TAG to oversee the organisation of the forthcoming 90th Birthday Anniversary of His Holiness.
