Dharamshala: A parliamentary delegation consisting of parliamentarians Khenpo Jamphel Tenzin, Tsering Dolma, Choedak Gyatso, and Tenzin Phuntsok Doring continued their advocacy effort in Australia on 20 August 2024.
In the morning, they held a meeting with Representative Douglas Yu-tien Hsu and his colleagues of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia. They discussed varied issues of shared interest.
In the afternoon, they met with David Muniz, Counsellor (Political Officer), and colleagues of the US Embassy in Australia. The Tibetan MPs extended their gratitude to the US for the adoption of the Resolve Tibet Act and briefed them on the current critical situation in Tibet. They further appealed for the US’s continued support to Tibet.
In the evening, they met with Simon Birmingham, Leader of the Opposition in the Australian Senate and Shadow Foreign Minister. They apprised the senator about the current critical situation in Tibet and appealed for Australian government’s continued support to Tibet.
The delegation was accompanied by Representative Karma Singey, Chinese liaison officer Dawa Sangmo, and Secretary Lhawang Gyalpo of the Tibet Information Office.
