MOSCOW: The blue book also known as Tibetan Solidarity Partnership Project to create more awareness and garner support for the Tibetan cause has begun in Russia. The solidarity drive, introduced in 1996, was aimed at extending and reviving awareness on the grim situation prevailing inside Tibet and the Middle Way Approach policy of the Central Tibetan Administration to resolve the Tibet issue.

“There have been Russian citizens who have obtained blue books before but in the last year or so there has not been increase. Therefore, we are reviving the drive to increase participation,” says Karma Tenzing, staff member of Moscow Tibet Office.

“Russia currently is going through a difficult period due to global politics and sanctions imposed on Russia by western countries. But nevertheless the sympathy, moral support as well as spiritual support towards Tibet has been stronger than ever,” says Telo Tulku Rinpoche, who is the Honorary representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Russia, Mongolia and CIS countries. “The three traditional Buddhist republics in the Russian Federation has faced the same destruction of Culture and religion under communism and fully understand and feel what Tibet is going through as well,” Rinpoche added.

“The Blue book drive is a means to seek and gain support for the Tibet issue and there are many ways to support our cause and the Blue book project is one of them,” says Karma Tenzin.
