Chief Election Commissioner concludes successful Australia visit

Dharamshala: The Chief Election Commissioner of Central Tibetan Administration, Mr Sonam Choephel Shosur on Thursday left for India after concluding his successful official visit to Australia.

From 3 to 12 September, the Chief Election Commissioner addressed the Tibetans in Melbourne, Sydney, New Castle and Canberra on the rules and regulations of the Tibetan election system with special reference to the amendment of the electoral system.

On 9 September, he addressed the Tibetan community of New Castle and met the President and representatives of the New Caste Tibetan Association. On 11 September, he visited the Tibetan community in Sydney and attended a special meeting with the Office of Tibet, local Tibetan assemblies, former Kalons and Secretaries, former teachers and community leaders to discuss the current issues in the community.

The Election Commissioner’s official visit was facilitated by the Office of Tibet, Canberra.
