His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has written to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd with a message of sympathy and heartfelt condolence to the families affected by Victoria’s bushfires, the worst in Australian history. His Holiness has offered prayers for those who have lost their lives and for the quick recovery of those who have been injured.
The Tibet Information Office in Canberra has requested all Tibetan Buddhist Centres and Tibetan Communities in Australia and New Zealand to organize special prayer sessions on Saturday 14th February 2009. The prayer sessions are to mourn and pay respect to those who have lost their lives in this tragedy and to express solidarity with fellow Australians and the grieving families.
