CTA President speaks on situation in Tibet, felicitates Tibet Support Group Members in South Africa

Cape Town: During the visit of Dr Lobsang Sangay, the President of Central Tibetan Administration to South Africa to attend the State of Nation Address of the President, the Office of Tibet in collaboration with the Tibet Support Group organised an event to felicitate individuals in Western Cape province who have been supporting Tibet and Tibetan culture over many years on 8 February.

The event started with a very lively and profound talk by President Dr Sangay on the current situation in Tibet and the Chinese policy.

It was then followed by an introductory talk by the Representative Ngodup Dorjee about the background of Thank You South Africa Initiative.

President Dr Sangay expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people for their enduring support over many years.

He presented a Certificate of Appreciation to all the supporters and a traditional Tibetan scarf to other attendees.

Mr Klasie Wessels, Director of the Street school, a strong supporter of Tibet; Prof. Nicola Smit; Prof Annika Rudman were honoured with Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of their enduring support.

This public recognition for their support was much appreciated by all of them.
