Dharamshala: The President of Central Tibetan Administration Dr Lobsang Sangay today graced the 2nd leadership workshop for the Tibetan Youth held from 8-10 June 2017, organized by the Department of Education.
After graduating from the CST Darjeeling, President Sangay received his B.A. (Hons) and LL.B. degrees from the University of Delhi in India. In 1995, the then Kashag offered a Full-Bright scholarship spot to him at Harvard Law School for his role in Chushi Gangdruk affairs, where he subsequently received his LL.M. degree the same year.
President Sangay addressed the youth gathered with his very own presentation on ‘leadership’. “I would define leadership as taking responsibility for enabling others to achieve purpose in the face of uncertainty”, said President Sangay.
“Leadership can be best described by Joseph Samuel Nye, Jr, as hard powers, soft powers and smart powers that combine both the hard and soft powers to form a smart leader”, President Sangay added.

He urged the students to commit to their studies and be the leaders that could work for a better future for Tibetans all over the world especially in Tibet. “You are here attending the workshop because we want to aspire you to be the future leaders” he said.
About more than 40 college students from different states are attending the workshop.
The students will be initiated about the Tibetan Charter and Parliamentary procedure; Tibetan Identity, Importance of Tibetan Language and Value Education; Dogyal, Middleway Approach, Introduction to Tibetan Civil Services, Advocacy and Lobbying, DOE scholarship and Yoga.
The leadership workshop for Tibetan Youth is a project of the Department of Education and funded by DFATD, Canada Since its inception in 1992, it has been engaged in understanding and dissemination of information on various political aspects related to Tibet with a view to carry forward the global movement of the Tibetan people’s struggle for freedom and democracy.
