DHARAMSHALA: The Public Service Commission of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) is organising a two-month training for its newly recruited staff from 30 January to 24 March 2016. The workshop is being organised at the Tibetan Reception Centre, Dharamshala.
The inaugural ceremony of the training was held today. The chief guest at the inaugural ceremony was Mr Sonam Choephel Shosur, Chairman of Public Service Commission and, Ms Kalsang Youdon Dagpo and Mr Ngodup Wangdue, Members of Public Service Commission along with Mr Jigme Tsering, Acting Secretary of the Public Service Commission.
In his inaugural speech, Mr Sonam Choephel Shosur spoke to the participants about the important role played by staff of the Central Tibetan Administration in carrying forward the vision of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Kashag in restoring freedom for Tibetans inside Tibet and looking after the welfare of Tibetans in exile.
“As a public servant, one must shoulder the responsibilities with earnest dedication and conviction,” he said.
He also reminded the trainees of the importance of the Tibetan language, not just for the preservation of Tibetan identity but also in the day-to-day workings of the administration. “The staff working in the CTA has to engage mainly in Tibetan as all the documents are maintained in Tibetan language. Therefore, this training is also to revitalise your Tibetan language skills which you have learned in school and could’ve been left in neglect during your further studies in colleges and universities,” he added.
Mr Ngodup Wangdue and Ms Kalsang Youdon Dagpo, members of the Public Service Commission shared their experiences and urged the trainees to utilise the opportunity provided by the training to effectively improve their knowledge and expertise. They reminded the young recruits of the efforts and sacrifices made by the elder generation of the Tibetan people in the Tibetan struggle.
A total of thirty-two new recruits are taking part in the training. Out of the thirty-two, nineteen have already completed their probation while the rest are yet to be designated into specific departments.
Mr Jigme Tsering, Acting Secretary of Public Service Commission delivered the introductory remarks and explained the aims and objectives of the workshop. He introduced the Tibetan and English language teachers and gave a brief account of their respective bio-data.
