Representative Karma Singey visited the Tibetan Language and Culture school in Sydney on Saturday, 12 February.
During his interaction with the students, Representative emphasised preservation of Tibetan language and culture as prime responsibility considering the ongoing crackdown on religion and cultural identity inside Tibet. He urged the students to take advantage of the value of the human rights and freedom available to them and highlighted the importance of integrating both traditional and modern knowledge.
Representative also elucidated on some of the initiatives being worked upon by the Office of Tibet in coordination with the Education Department of Tibetan administration. Some of those initiative include short term study program for Tibetan students in Australia to India based Tibetan schools to learn Tibetan language, history, culture, and the functioning of Tibetan administration in exile.
Following his interactive session with the students and the parents, Representative attended a meeting organised by Australia Tibet Council, one of the biggest Tibet support group in Australia to discuss strategic planning on advocacy and campaigns.
