Dharamshala: The incumbent Secretary of Department of Education, Karma Singey has been appointed as the new Representative for Office of Tibet, Canberra.
As per the circular issued by the Kashag, Mr Singey is to take over the charges from out-going Representative Lhakpa Tshoko on 1 June 2020.
The outgoing Rep Lhakpa Tshoko has been appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture, CTA wef 22 June 2020.
Brief Bio of Secretary Karma Singey
Mr Karma Singey began his service in the CTA from 6 September 1995 as Under Secretary at Ladakh Tibetan settlement office. On 1 May 1998, he was appointed as Settlement officer of Paonta Cholsum Tibetan settlement. On 2 February 1999, Mr Singey was promoted to Deputy Secretary. On 4 April 2002, he was appointed as Settlement officer of Miao Chopheling Tibetan settlement. He also served as settlement officer at Bir and Kullu Tibetan settlement. On 18 February 2005, he was promoted to Joint Secretary. On 2 January 2009, he was appointed as settlement officer of Kollegal Tibetan settlement. Mr Singey was soon promoted to Additional Secretary at the Department of Education, CTA, on 8 February 2012. On 16 May 2012, he was appointed to Chief Representative Officer of South zone. On 1 August 2016, he was appointed as the Acting Secretary of the Education Department in which portfolio he served till 17 May 2017 until his promotion to Secretary on 18 May 2017. As per the Kashag circular, Secretary Singey will take charge of the Office of Tibet, Canberra from 1 June 2020.
