Brussels: The CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay met with Loránt Vincze, Member of European Parliament Loránt Vincze from the European People’s Party group at the latter’s office yesterday in Brussels.
President Sangay briefed the MEP Lorant on the situation in Tibet and urged for his support. While thanking the President for his visit, MEP Loránt assured his support. The MEP also informed the President about a fellow journalist colleague on an ardent journey on foot from Transylvania, Romania to Tibet, following the footsteps of Alexander Koroshi Csoma, a Hungarian philologist and author of the first English-Tibetan dictionary.
On his arrival from Prague earlier in the morning, President Sangay gave his keynote address at the conference on the reincarnation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama co-organized by International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and International Campaign for Tibet (ICT).
While citing last year’s signing of an agreement between China and the Vatican on the appointment of Bishop, President Sangay warned of such actions being replicated around the world. The president while sharing the July news report in which China warned India not to interfere in the reincarnation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, strongly restated that His Holiness the Dalai is the sole authority in the matter of reincarnation.
The conference was attended by diplomats, representatives of think tanks, NGOs, Buddhist centres and the President of the Belgium Buddhist Union.
The President who is on a two-day official visit to Brussels attended the dinner reception hosted by the Tibetan association yesterday evening.
Representative Tashi Phuntsok, Office of Tibet, Brussels and Rigzin Choedon, EU Advocacy Officer participated in the respective meetings and conference with the President.
