Sikyong Penpa Tsering Commences Official Engagements in Australia

Sikyong Penpa Tsering commenced his official engagements in Australia by visiting Rigney Kystel Khang Weekend School in Mackellar Girls CampusSydney, on 17 June 2023 following the successful completion of an official visit in New Zealand.  

Sikyong underscored studying the Tibetan language when addressing the students and lauded the school’s administration and teachers for their dedicated efforts. He also attended a meeting with the parent-teacher committee where the weekend school’s Principal presented the school’s report.  

Later in the afternoon, Sikyong addressed the Tibetan community on the 16th Kashag’s (cabinet) commitments, reiterating its adherence to the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He further apprised the Tibet bill “Promoting a Resolution to Tibet–China Conflict”, which was recently introduced in the U.S Congress and informed the gathering about Kashag’s determination to seek similar formal support in other countries. Additionally, other concerning issues encountered by the Central Tibetan administration regarding the welfare and sustenance of the Tibetan exile community, especially in India, were briefed before answering the audience’s queries.
