DEHRADUN: Tibetan political leader Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay today successfully completed his five-day official visit to Tibetan settlements in Dehradun and nearby areas.
Before departing for Delhi, Sikyong inspected the newly constructed football ground of Paonta Cholsum. The ground was constructed with financial help from the Central Tibetan Administration as part of its effort to enhance public health and secure the sustenance of settlements.
From Paonta Cholsum, Sikyong visited the CST school in Herbertpur where he interacted with students and staff on the importance of hard work and dedication. He also spoke about the growing international support for Tibetan movement through the Middle Way Approach of the Central Tibetan Administration.
Sikyong reminded the students of the rich cultural heritage of the Tibetan people and explained that everybody, irrespective of economic or ethnic backgrounds, have the same potential to achieve greatness.
“We are refugees because of political situations, not because we are lesser human beings. Therefore, we shouldn’t be demoralized in our pursuit of success. We have the same capacity for greatness as anyone else,” he said.
He also spoke about the Tibetan People’s contribution towards revival of ancient Indian knowledge through Tibetan Buddhism in the world.
From CST Herbertpur, Sikyong went straight to the airport and departed for New Delhi.
The five-day visit to Dehradun area began on 30 March. During the visit, Sikyong offered a long life prayer to Sakya Gongma Rinpoche and inaugurated the new community hall of Dekyiling Tibetan settlement.
He also visited schools, monasteries, old age homes, women’s handicraft center, Ngoenga school and a host of other institutes and organisations, meeting thousands of ordinaryTibetans in the process during the visit.
