DHARAMSHALA: Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay left Dharamsala yesterday for visits to the United States and Europe.
Sikyong is scheduled to visit Washington from 5-9 May, during which he will meet some key officials and inspect the ongoing process of shifting of the Office of Tibet from New York to Washington.
Sikyong will visit Norway to attend the fifth annual Oslo Freedom Forum on 13 – 14 May. He will give a keynote speech on democracy in exile. “The event brings together hundreds of world’s most influential dissidents, innovators, journalists, philanthropists, and policymakers to discuss how best to challenge authoritarianism and promote free and open societies,” the organisers said.
Sikyong will visit Sweden from 16-17 May. He will meet some members of Swedish Parliament and speak to students at a university in Stockholm.
He is expected to return to Dharamsala on 20 May.
