Chinese officials have today (Monday) announced further changes to the controversial Tibet leg of the Olympic Torch Relay.
In the latest official announcement, reported in the China Daily this morning, organizers confirmed that the torch will pass through Xinjang (East Turkestan) before going to Tibet, making Friday 20 June the earliest day that the torch could arrive in Lhasa.
In an unconfirmed report, this afternoon the Beijing News said the new plan was to run the Tibet leg on Saturday, citing one of the torch bearers chosen to carry the flame in Lhasa.
