The President of Central Tibetan Administration, Dr. Lobsang Sangay made a history when Tibetan National Flag was unfurled at the bell of Peace in the backdrops of the hill of Miravalle, in Trento, Italy, on 12 July 2019.
Regent, Senator Alberto Robol, Mayor Francesca and some members of parliament accompanied Dr. Sangay during the Tibetan National flag hoisting ceremony.
In his address at the bell of peace, Dr. Sangay said, “sustainable peace, then the process and the efforts should also be peaceful. So that’s why our efforts have been peaceful. We are sending message to the Chinese government that what we want is peace, what we want is genuine autonomy within the framework of the Chinese constitution.”
Furthermore, Dr. Sangay elaborated on the difference between Trento and Tibet in terms of autonomy in true sense. He said Trento is an autonomous region; however, in contrast, Tibet’s autonomous region is only on paper and not in reality! But Chinese leaders always say Tibetan people enjoy autonomy, I think if what they say is true, and they should come to Trento to see how actually autonomy is practiced.
In the presence of CTA President Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the bell of peace struck in honour of the Tibetan people’s peaceful and non-violent struggle for genuine autonomy within the framework of the Chinese constitution, at Campana Dei Caduti, Rovereto, Italy.
The official ceremony was live streamed via @dr.lobsangsangay, the official Facebook page of Dr. Lobsang Sangay, and it was well-received by netizens with a total of 44 k views, 2.6 k likes, 801 shares, and 624 comments.
