7th Tibetan General Conference on Education Concludes

Dharamshala: Education Kalon Dr Pema Yangchen, addressed the closing ceremony of ‘The Seventh Tibetan General Conference on Education’ at the T-building this afternoon.
Tenzin Dorjee, head of Academic section of Department of Education read out around 72 resolution passed during three days conference.

Education Kalon said more participation from women in the future conference would be commendable.

Referring to the research studies, she stressed that attention span for humans has decreased from 12 to 8 minutes. “As teachers, we need to learn to act and plan our curriculums accordingly.

Kalon further briefly touched upon a few important resolutions relating to education policy.

She then applauded the work of all schools in keeping the Tibetan language intact and urged teachers to bring friendly teaching environment for the growth of students.

Education Kalon launched secular ethics website during the closing ceremony.

Tsering Samdup, Director of Education Council introduced the contents of the website. The website was funded by Fonds De Dotation Mon Kontan Ou, France.

The website secularethics.net contains His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s speech, interview and articles written by eminent, curriculum dub and video teaching on secular ethics. All the workshop materials related to secular ethics are also on the website.

Karma Singye, Education Secretary gave the vote of thanks. He reminded teachers to work towards fulfilling the resolutions passed.

The workshop was organised by the Department of Education and funded by USAID through the Tibet Fund.

The participants of the 7th Tibetan General Conference on Education will offer long life offering to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 27 February.
