Canberra: The Representative of the Tibet Information Office, Karma Singey, delivered congratulatory letters from Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Speaker Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, and DIIR Kalon Norzin Dolma to Senator Dean Smith, who has been appointed as the Coalition’s Shadow Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, on 17 June 2025.
During the meeting, Representative Karma Singey apprised Senator Smith about the outcomes of the recently concluded 9th World Parliamentary Convention on Tibet and discussed this year’s observance of the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which will be globally celebrated as the “Year of Compassion”. He also expressed his gratitude for Senator Smith’s unwavering support and solidarity with the Tibetan people.
Prior to this meeting, Representative Karma Singey met the Member of Parliament David Smith and extended his heartfelt congratulations on his re-election in the recently held federal election.
Representative Karma Singey was accompanied by Secretary Jigmey Passang of the Tibet Information Office during these meetings.
