Antwerpen, Belgium: The President of the Central Tibetan Administration Dr Lobsang Sangay who is on a three-nation Europe visit addressed and interacted with the Tibetan community during his visit to Brussels, Belgium yesterday.
Dr Sangay briefed the gathering on the workings of the Central Tibetan Administration and how despite objections from the Chinese government, CTA and its leadership continue to garner respect from the international community.
Referring to the recent inauguration of the Gangjong Development Finance Private Ltd, a non-banking financial corporation and an undertaking of the Department of Finance, Dr Sangay spoke of the steadfast commitments of CTA to strengthen the Tibet movement on the global stage and also of building the Tibetan community into a strong self-reliant community with its identity close intact.
The event attended by Tibetans in and around Belgium and Holland, Dr Sangay re-emphasised the need and importance of the Tibetan identity and urged the parents to take an active role in the inculcation of Tibetan culture and tradition and to send their children to the weekend Tibetan language schools.
Dr Sangay spoke of the significance of this year which marks the beginning of the 60th year of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s journey into exile followed by thousands of Tibetans, and also of 60 years of Tibet invasion of China which he said is a “tragic chapter in the Tibet’s history.” However, he added that the last sixty years of Tibetan community in exile has been a “story of success”.
Referring to the achievements of the Tibetan community in exile as “most successful refugee community in the world”, Dr Sangay attributed its success to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and to the support of the International community in particular India and its people. As CTA gears up to commemorate 2018 as Thank You Year by organising series of events, the highlight of which will be the Thank You India campaign, Dr Sangay appealed the Tibetans to join in the initiatives undertaken by the respective Offices of Tibet in their respective host countries.
Emphasising his concern at the security threats posed by Dogyal protesters and their persistent baseless accusations against His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the CTA, Dr Sangay implored the Tibetans to be aware and vigilant of such propaganda.
Dr Sangay also briefed on the recent news of detection of bombs in Bodh Gaya, India and urged the Tibetans to remain calm as there won’t be any compromise on the security detail of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and added that the intelligence unit and the police force of Bihar state has intensified and heightened the security in Bodh Gaya.
