CTA President condoles demise of former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Dharamsala: The President of the Central Tibetan Administration, Dr Losang Sangay offered condolences over the demise of Kofi Annan, the former UN Secretary-General, and Nobel peace laureate.

“Sad to hear the news of the passing of Kofi Annan, who was committed to world peace and known for his efforts in conflict resolution and human rights,” said Dr Sangay.

Born in Ghana, Kofi Annan was the seventh secretary-general and served for two terms. He was awarded the Noble peace prize for his humanitarian work jointly with the UN in 2001.

He continued his work towards peace through his foundation and as the Chair of The Elders, an independent group of global leaders working together for peace and human rights founded by Nelson Mandela.

The Kofi Annan Foundation earlier today announced the passing of the former UN secretary-general. He was 80.
