GUWAHATI: President Dr Lobsang Sangay of the Central Tibetan Administration today arrived at Guwahati, the capital city of the northeast Indian state of Assam. He is in the city at the invitation of the Balipara Foundation to deliver the 2017 Rabindranath Barthakur Memorial Lecture on 3 November.
Dr Sangay is also scheduled to address the students and faculty of Guwahati University on the morning of 3rd November. He will speak to the students on the theme ‘”India and Tibet- Strengthening its Future.’
President Dr Sangay also met a host of leaders and activists from the state including Shri Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Urban Development, town and Country Planning, the government of Assam.
In the evening, the foundation hosted a dinner reception for President Dr Lobsang Sangay at Hotel Palacio. The dinner reception was attended by over a hundred guests which include environmental activists, animal rights activists, poets, writers, etc.
Balipara Foundation is an international environmental conservation group based in Guwahati with a vision to conserve and promote the natural heritage of the eastern Himalayas. It is founded by Ranjit Barthakur, a leading industrialist from Assam with a deep commitment to finding a balance between conservation of nature and economic development in the region.
