CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay Meets Estonian MP Yoko Alender

CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay with Yoko Alender, Estonian MP and head of the Estonian Parliamentary Tibet Group; her husband Priit Juurmann and Roy Strider, Coordinator for Tibet support related activities in Estonia.

DHARAMSHALA: Yoko Alender, member of Estonian Parliament and head of the Estonian Parliamentary Tibet Group, called on CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay at the Kashag secretariat yesterday (24 April). She was accompanied by her husband Priit Juurmann and Roy Strider, Coordinator for Tibet support related activities in Estonia.

During the meeting, CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay explained the democratic structure of the Central Tibetan Administration and the functions of the various departments and offices under the administration. He also apprised the visiting parliamentarian about the grim political and human rights situation inside Tibet and said that the international community should urge China to allow independent journalists to investigate the ground situation in Tibet.

He further spoke about the Middle Way Approach of the Central Tibetan Administration that seeks a mutually beneficial solution to the issue of Tibet through dialogue.

The parliamentarian earlier visited the Tibetan Parliament and met Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel on 23 April.
