Netherlands: His Holiness the Dalai Lama granted an audience to Ms Toutut-Picard and her husband on Sunday morning. Ms Toutut-Picard comes from the ruling party La République en Marche and is a new Deputy in the National Assembly.

During their audience, His Holiness recalled the French revolution and appreciated the French courage for making changes at a regular interval in their national history. He said that the revolution brought to an end to feudalism. Change is the law of nature and is required for making progress, he said.

Ms Toutut-Picard informed His Holiness that she was in despair at the critical state of the earth’s environment. As a student of environment and ecology, she has found that that state of men’s destructive role is unprecedented.

His Holiness counselled her that, people like her, who has knowledge of such a state would be able to contribute in at least preventing further destruction and hastening of global environmental degradation.

Ms Toutut-Picard has been at the forefront of newly elected French National Assembly. She hosted in her personal capacity in the National Assembly the recent birthday celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

With her efforts, the Tibet group in the National Assembly has been re-convened and she is leading it.
