Hansraj College to Honour CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay on 70th Anniversary

DHARAMSHALA: CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay’s alma mater Hansraj College in Delhi has decided to felicitate him on the occasion of the college’s 70th foundation day celebration on 26 July.

As one of its illustrious alumni, Hansraj college will honour him with the “Mahatma Hansraj Gaurav Samman’ award for his achievements and contribution. Others who will be felicitated at the ceremony include distinguished personalities such as Shri Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Home Affairs, and Dr Punam Suri, President of DAV College Managing Committee.

Following the felicitation, Dr Sangay will address the ceremony, which will be attended by the entire students and faculty of the college.

President Dr Lobsang Sangay studied English Literature at Hansraj College, Delhi University from 1988 – 1991. During his college days, Dr Sangay was the President of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) and a prominent Tibetan activist. Following his studies in Delhi University, Dr Lobsang Sangay went to Harvard University in 1995 from where he received Doctor of Judicial Science (SJD), Harvard university’s most advanced law degree, on a Tibetan Fulbright scholarship programme.

President Dr Lobsang Sangay will leave for Delhi on 25 July. During the visit, he will also meet senior officials and dignitaries of the Indian government. He will be back in Dharamshala on 27 July.
