Zanskar: His Holiness the Dalai Lama met with the Muslim community in Zanskar during a talk organised by Anjumane Moen Ul Islam, Padum Zanskar at Model Public School.
His Holiness mentioned that he heard about the tension between Buddhist and Muslim community in Zanskar. So he told that he is totally against such behaviours.
“Different philosophy and ideology are required. In Buddhism, there are different schools of thought. From the wider perspective, every religion has same purpose and goal of love and compassion. We must respect each other’s religion,” His Holiness said.
India is an exemplary in religious harmony and secularism. In Tibet also during fifth Dalai Lama mosque were built. This shows respect to other religion, he revealed.
His Holiness said, “In Nubra during the closing ceremony of Yarchos Chenmo, Representative of Muslim community publicly announced that they want to join Yarchos Chenmo to debate from next year.”
He mentioned that racism within community-based on religion would create chaos, I hope and believe such tension in a small community of Zanskar will have some changes.
In the morning, His Holiness conferred Sangye Melha’s initiation, the Stages of Visualisation of the Three Essential Meanings Entitled “The Staircase to Climb to the Joyous Land” by Bhadanta Gedhun Gyatso and Long life prayer ceremony.
His Holiness said, “I give teachings in order to bring some changes in you. Buddhism should learn through education rather than faith and prayer alone.”
His Holiness congratulated Zanskar for having three Geshema and told that he will be back again to bless people of Zanskar.
