DHARAMSHALA: His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote this morning to Korean President-elect Moon Jae-in to congratulate him on his victory in the Presidential election yesterday.

“Today, the world is passing through difficult and challenging times,” he wrote. “Peace and security seem under threat in many places. We take courage from the strength of democracy in the Republic of Korea.

“Now more than ever it is important that all who wish for peace stand together. In seeking to resolve what may seem like intractable problems, the most appropriate way forward is to engage in dialogue in a spirit of understanding, respect and mutual benefit.”

His Holiness concluded by wishing the President-elect every success in meeting the challenges that lie ahead.
