Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama offered prayers to provide solace to those affected by the devastating floods in Leh on Monday.

Jammu & Kashmir Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora accompanied His Holiness the Dalai Lama to survey the rehabilitation camp at the worst-hit Choglamsar.

From Choglamsar His Holiness the Dalai Lama went to Jokhang, the main Buddhist monastery at Leh, and presided over a prayer service for the flood victims.

Later, addressing a huge gathering at Lamdon school ground, His Holiness boosted the morale of the survivors to start a fresh new life and told each individual to recite at least 100,000 to 600,000 Mani (Buddhist religious mantras) times a day.

Recounting how he recited 600,000 Mani when his mother passed away, His Holiness told the survivors of flood victims not to get dismayed and encouraged them to offer prayers to family members and relatives who lost their precious lives.

His Holiness donated Rs 25 lakh to the flood victims to rebuild their homes.
