His Holiness the Dalai Lama Returns from Baltic States

DHARAMSHALA: His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived here at Gaggal airport Wednesday afternoon after successfully concluding 11-day teaching tour in the Baltic States.

Responding to media queries at the airport, His Holiness the Dalai Lama assured the public of his good health.

His Holiness was received by Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Kalon Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang, Department of Home, representatives of various Tibetan NGOs at Kangra airport near Dharamshala.

During the 11-day European visit, His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave teachings on Tsongkhapa’s In Praise of Dependant Origination (tendrel toepa), Diamond Cutter Sutra (dorjee chodpa) and White Manjushri empowerment to over 4000 Baltic and Russian Buddhists in Riga, Latvia.

In Lithuania, His Holiness delivered talks on “Human Values in Education” and “The Art of Happiness” at University of Vilnius and Siemens Arena respectively.

His Holiness also met eight Members of the Lithuanian Parliament, Lithuanian Parliamentary Tibet Group and supporters.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s upcoming schedule include a four-day teaching from 4 – 7 September at Tsuglagkhang on Buddhapalita’s Commentary on the Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way (drel-pa Buddhapalita). The teaching were requested by a group from Asia including Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

On September 16, His Holiness will give a public talk on Why Compassion is Essential in our Troubled World at Ahoy Rotterdam, Netherlands.

On September 17, His Holiness will give a teaching on Geshe Langri Thangpa’s Eight Verses of Mind Training (lojong tsik gyema) at Ahoy Rotterdam.

His Holiness will participate in a conference on Non-Violence and Peace in the morning at Congress Center Darmstadtium, Germany on September 19.

On September 21, His Holiness will participate in a religious ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Tibet Institute Rikon in the morning at Tibet Institute Rikon, Switzerland.
