Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama was accorded a rousing welcome at Dharamshala where he arrived late this afternoon from his weeklong Delhi visit. Due to inclement weather, His Holiness flew from Delhi to Amritsar and travelled via road to Dharamshala.

Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay, Speaker Pema Jungney and members of the 16th Tibetan Parliament greeted His Holiness the Dalai Lama at His Holiness’ official residence at the main temple.

Thousands of Tibetans and well-wishers turned out in the streets leading up to the main temple to welcome him home.

On his weeklong Delhi-Mathura visit, His Holiness spoke at a global inter-faith symposium along with religious heads of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Jain and Christian traditions. His Holiness delivered a talk on ‘Educating the heart and mind’ to over 2300 students from 50 schools at Shri Ram School in Delhi. Besides, His Holiness paid a two-day visit to Karshni Ashram in Mathura where he was hosted by Swami Karshni Gurusharanandaji Maharaja.

His Holiness’ upcoming schedule includes three-day teaching on Nagarjuna’s The Precious Garland of the Middle Way (uma rinchen trengwa) at the main temple from 3 to 5 October-at the request of Taiwanese.
