New Secretary of DIIR Takes Charge

MG_48801-264x300DHARAMSHALA: Mr Tashi Phuntsok has taken over from Mr Tashi, the charge of secretary for information of the Department of Information & International Relations on 8 February 2013. An official ceremony of taking over the charge was held today at DIIR. It could not be held earlier because of intervening Losar and other holidays.

Mr Tashi, the outgoing Secretary, in his speech, welcomed the new secretary of DIIR and said, “under the dynamic leadership of Tashi Phuntsok, DIIR will further progress on the right direction”. He also urged the staff to extend full co-operation to the new secretary as they did to him.

Mr Tashi, has dedicated over 35 years of his life in the service of the Central Tibetan Administration. He joined the administrative service in 1976, initially working as a junior clerk in Tezu Tibetan settlement. He continued his services in various capacities at different departments of the CTA, notably as the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Russia for six years. He was appointed as the Secretary of DIIR on 4 February 2012.

Mr Tashi Phuntsok, the new Secretary, has earlier served the Tibetan community and administration for over 33 years in various capacities. He worked most prominently as the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in South Africa and France from 1997-2001 and 2001-2005 respectively; as well as the Chief Representative Officer of the Southern Tibetan Settlements, Bangalore from 2010- 2012.
