“The world needs ancient Indian knowledge” : His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Dharamshala: Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama granted an audience to the students and faculty members of the 6-month certificate course in Ancient India Wisdom.  The Audience included the members of Flowering Dharma, students of Lovely Professional University, Punjab University, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, and Sharda Univesity.

The Government College of Dharamshala recently started a 6-month certificate course in Ancient India Wisdom as approved by the government’s educational body. There are around 30 students who are pursuing this certificate course.

Emphasising on his first commitment, His Holiness affirmed that all 7 billion human beings are the same mentally, emotionally and physically and that they belong to one community. Based on that reason he highlighted the need for the importance of the sense of oneness.

Despite being the members of the same family, humans create divisions in the name of religious faith also killing each other that His Holiness stated is strongly motivated by a self-centered attitude. He proclaimed that these problems which are our own creation can be reduced if we think logically.

Referring to his fourth commitment, His Holiness said that he has been focusing on the revival of Ancient Indian Knowledge in the latter part of his life that mainly promotes Ahimsa and Karuna.

” The world needs more of this knowledge,” His Holiness pronounced.

He apprised that Ahimsa and Karuna can not be revived through prayers or rituals but rather through education.

Talking about the Ancient Indian Knowledge, His Holiness has been making efforts for the revival of knowledge and has been speaking about his commitment to many Indian youths.

He mentioned the need for the hygiene of emotion in the academic curriculum along with the hygiene of physical which already exists in the school curriculum.

His Holiness reiterated his strong faith that India has the opportunity and ability to revive such a vast tradition which brings about inner strength and peace. He appreciated the Government College of Dharamshala for including the course on the subject.

Answering to a question about whether His Holiness would return to Tibet anytime soon, he said ” Although Physically I am in India, My mind often goes to Tibet”

A student of the course speaking to tibet.net said “it is great learning opportunity to improve one’s life ethically.”
