Tibet Information Office Hosts Sino-Tibetan Youth Interaction at Sydney University

Sydney, Australia: On 28 February, the Tibet Information Office (TIO) organised a Sino-Tibetan Youth Interaction at Sydney University. The event brought together more than 20 participants, including students from the Sydney Tibetan Weekend School, Chinese graduates from Sydney University, and members of the Chinese-Tibetan Friendship Association and the Chinese Alliance for Democracy.

In her address, Chinese Liaison Officer Dawa Sangmo of the Tibet Information Office in Canberra emphasised the importance of continuing the legacy of civil friendship built under the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, as well as the years of dialogue and collaboration between exiled Tibetan and Chinese democrats. She noted that such youth engagements are vital in sustaining mutual understanding and strengthening people-to-people connections.

Professor Chongyi, President of the Chinese -Tibetan Friendship Association Sydney, introduced the association, which was established in 2008, and elaborated on its role in promoting civil dialogue among Chinese intellectuals with the Tibetan diaspora.

During the four-hour program, Tibetan youths engaged in in-depth discussions with Chinese democrats on various Tibet-related issues and shared insights into the Tibetan spirit that the younger generation continues to carry forward with determination and responsibility.
