Tibetan Community in Delhi Receives Padyatris at Samyeling Tibetan Settlement

ITCO, 29th March, New Delhi – The Tibetan community in Delhi welcomed the leaders and participants of the padyatra ( from Chuthangmo to Tezpur) to mark the 60th year of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s arrival in India, at a felicitation program in the morning of 29 March at Samyeling Tibetan settlement, Majnukatilla in New Delhi.

Mr Karten Tsering, Camp leader, while welcoming the padyatris and eminent personalities, gave a brief introduction. Shri R. K. Khrimey, National Convenor of Core Group for Tibetan Cause, briefed the gathering about the inception, implementation and the successful conclusion of the Padyatra.

Former Kalon Dhongchung Ngodup, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi while giving thank you note to the padyatris extended his gratitude to the people of Monyul for their initiative and successful conclusion of 11-day padyatra.

Other eminent guest speakers who addressed 100-odd audience were Guru Tulku Rinpoche, former abbot of Tawang monastery, Gangkar Tulku Rinpoche, current Abbot of Tawang monastery, Mrs Rinchen Dolma, mother of present Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Shri Pema Khandu and Mr Lhundup Choesang, Chairman of Tawang Core Committee members.

Representatives of the Tibetan community in Delhi welcomed the Padyatris at Delhi Domestic Airport and hosted a dinner reception at Majnukatilla on 28 March 2018.

A total of 41 people from Tawang and West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh participated in the padyatra. They will leave for Dharamsala today to attend the “Thank You India 2018” event to be held on 31st March 2018.
