Canberra, Australia: The Canberra Tibetan Community and Tibet supporters in Australia held a protest rally today from Garema Place to the Chinese embassy, to highlight the atrocious human rights violations by the Chinese Community Party (CCP). Kalsang Tsering, President of the Canberra Tibetan community shed a light on human rights violations and lack of basic freedoms faced by Tibetans in Tibet, particularly in China’s zero covid lockdowns. Dr. Yi-Tsun Chen, President of the Taiwanese association of Canberra addressed the increased political repression in Taiwan by the CCP. Nurgul Sawut, a prominent Uyghur community leader and activist spoke about the injustices and discrimination faced by Uyghurs in China. She spoke about the blue paper revolution, which is a precursor of the white paper revolution currently in China. Honorable Andrew Braddock, the Member of Legislative Assembly for Yerrabi and ACT Greens spoke about how the Australian Greens have always supported the cause of Tibet and their continued efforts to champion for human rights everywhere. Claudia Ng from the Canberra Hong Kong Link addressed the rally outside the Chinese embassy and lamented how prominent Hong Kong protesters were either unjustly sentenced to prison or were unable to return back to Hong Kong. Song Fa from the Falun Dafa association reiterated how he had been part of the community groups speaking up against the CCP along with Tibetans from day one, and how he would continue to fight for justice. Community members and Tibet supporters marched through the city towards the Chinese embassy, chanting slogans for human rights in Tibet, and sang the Tibetan national anthem in front of the Chinese embassy, the very government that has banned it in Tibet.
Similarly, the Auckland Tibetan community in New Zealand jointly with Sino Tibetan Friendship Group and Friends of Tibet carried out a protest on the world human rights day today in front of Chinese consulate General in Auckland. The protesters raised issue of Chinese government’s abuse of human right and freedom in Tibet and China and call for the end zero covid policy. They also urged the Chinese government to resolve the Sino Tibet conflict through negotiation with Representatives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama without any preconditions.
