In such situation, a word of wisdom from a nobleman is worth listening to especially through social media platform where millions around the world are actively engaged.
On Friday last week, His Holiness the Dalai Lama met with eighty people from three different groups at His Holiness’ residence in Dharamshala.
“We are emotionally, mentally and physically the same and we can help each other by sharing our experience of achieving peace of mind,” His Holiness said to the groups comprising Students and staff from Emory University, participants in the Emory-Tibet Partnership from Library of Tibetan Works and Archives in Dharamshala, and students involved with the Kurukul Program of the foundation for Universal Responsibility in New Delhi.
While addressing the gathering, His Holiness spoke about his fourth commitment- the revival of ancient Indian knowledge in modern India. He believes it is possible to integrate such unique knowledge with modern education.
An effective solution to the current emotional crisis, he said lies in the ancient Indian practice of Vipassana (deep insight) and Samatha (the practice of calming the mind). “These have much relevant in today’s world in tackling our negative emotions and cultivating lasting peace of mind”.
The interaction session with His Holiness was shown live on His Holiness’ official English Facebook Page @Dalai Lama. Within 2 days, the live webcast of the meeting received 433 k views, 21 k likes, 4.6 shares, and 6430 comments.
