US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues Sarah Sewall Visits Dharamshala

US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues Undersecretary Sarah Sewall being welcomed at the Kangra airport by Kashag Secretary Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok, DIIR Secretary Tashi Phuntsok and SARD Secretary Ngodup Dorjee.

DHARAMSHALA: US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues, Ms. Sarah Sewall, arrived in Dharamshala today for a two-day official visit to discuss issues of importance to the Tibetan refugee community. She is accompanied by an eight-member US delegation.

“Under Secretary Sewall, in her role as Special Coordinator for Tibetan issues, travels to India and meets Tibetans from all walks of life to discuss ways to preserve Tibetan culture and promote educational opportunities for all Tibetans,” a press release from the US State Department said.

Ms Sewall’s engagements at Dharamshala include a meeting with Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay and an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama among others. She will depart Dharamshala tomorrow, 16 January 2016.

Ms Sarah Sewall is the United States Undersecretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights, and the Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues. This is her second visit to Dharamshala since her appointment to the post on 20 February 2014. Her last visit to Dharamshala was in November 2014.
