CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay Meets Senator Bob Corker at Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON DC: CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay and Mr Richard Gere, Chairman of ICT Board met Senator Bob Corker, Chairman of Senate Committee on Foreign Relations at Capitol Hill this morning. Dr Sangay and Mr Gere were accompanied by Representative Ngodup Tsering and Mr Matteo Meccaci, President of ICT.

During the meeting, CTA President requested the Senator to expedite the appointment of the Special Coordinator for Tibet and to take up this matter with the administration. He also urged the Senator to support the passage of the Reciprocal Access to Tibet. Dr Sangay thanked the Senator for sparing his time to listen to the Tibet cause and for his support.

Later in the evening, Dr Sangay had a round-table discussion with experts, scholars and researchers, updating them on the CTA’s concerns, including the implications of the Belt and Road initiative for Tibet.

During a lively question and answer session, he shared his views and thoughts on the critical situation of Tibet, Middle Way Approach, Sino-Tibet Dialogue, Self immolation, the functions and activities of the Central Tibetan Administration. Around 30 experts participated in the round table discussion which lasted for over an hour and a half.
