Hundreds of Vietnamese Attend His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teaching in Dharamsala

DHARAMSHALA: More than five thousand people are attending His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s two-day teaching on Je Tsongkhapa’s “Praise to the Buddha for His Teachings on Dependent Origination (tendrel toepa)” at the main temple in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala on Tuesday, 28 June 2011.

The teaching is being given at the request of Buddhist Vietnamese. They wished His Holiness the Dalai Lama long life and expressed gratitude to His Holiness for giving this teaching.

In his introductory speech His Holiness the Dalai Lama said, it is for the first time Vietnamese in such a large group have come from Vietnam for the teaching and I extend my good wishes to all of you.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama said, it is very important to become 21st century Buddhist practitioners by following the method of reasoning and understanding. Because of this reason, he said, he always introduce Buddha’s teaching prior to giving teachings.

There were total 4,835 people of which 500 are Vietnamese, 719 foreigners, 1459 monks and nuns and 1490 general public who got registered for teachings by Monday, according to the security department of the Central Tibetan Administration.
